Thor Odinson
Thor Odinson is an Asgardian, the son of Odin and a former king, introduced in the W-Series What-If episode "What If... a Guardian Fell from the Sky?".
Background
Thor's titles are all in the past tense, and what happened to Asgard is a long story he does not tell. What survives of his people is a refugee ship sailing toward Earth, watched over by their gatekeeper Heimdall, guardian of the Bifrost. His own account of why he is not aboard is that he required a change of scenery.
Personality
Thor introduces himself with a list of honorifics and takes it well when the list is not accepted as an answer. He grins easily, and there is a great deal of loss behind it. He treats a raccoon grudgingly granting him leave to remain as though it were a coronation.

What If
The What-If episodes are alternate timelines and do not affect the main continuity.
In "What If... a Guardian Fell from the Sky?", no Asgardian distress signal ever reaches the Guardians. They find Thor the other way around, two weeks into the hunt for Rocket, by tracking energy that matches the Bifrost back to the refugee ship. Heimdall is the one who finds Rocket, and what he reports is a porch on a world of talking mammals and a lynx sitting beside him. Heimdall then matches the Bifrost against the scar the sealed rift left and tears it open again so the Benatar can descend.
Thor is leaning against a bulkhead with his arms folded when Rocket comes back aboard, and the two of them settle terms immediately. He offers the titles; Rocket points out that the titles were not the question; Thor allows that he is very good in a fight and is told he may stay. Out past the rift he has already found a new argument about music to have with Quill.
Key Relationships
Rocket
Their first exchange sets the shape of it: Rocket is unimpressed by divinity and wants a straight answer about combat, and Thor, a king without a kingdom, finds that he does not mind being sized up by a raccoon.
Korg
Korg arrives with Thor and stays with him, and the Benatar absorbs two new voices at once.
