Dewey
Dewey is a Komodo dragon and the night operator of the Reptile Ravine weather wall station. He is introduced in the W-Series in "The Call", where the chair he was supposed to be sitting in is the reason nobody can answer the station.
Background
Dewey works the night shift at a station so reliable that the difference between the shifts he showed up for and the ones he missed stopped registering. His operations jacket, issued to be worn on duty, has drifted, across a year, out of the station locker and into his everyday clothes.
Personality
On paper his attendance is spotless; in practice he stopped turning up. Faced with a chief engineer, a tactical team and a snake at the door of his workplace, all he is holding is a ticket stub and some popcorn.
Series History
W-Series
In "The Call", Dewey is at the movies on the night the grid runs its first deep pass on Reptile Ravine and reads a catastrophe under the station he is meant to be watching. The Crisis Coordination Center's calls go unanswered, the station line ringing out and his own going to voicemail; a CTU element cuts the door off its frame and finds his chair pushed back and the coat hook bare; the room takes the empty station as one more proof. The feature stops when the citywide advisory hits every phone in the theater, and he finds the monitoring desk's missed calls stacked on his own. He walks up the path to the station, still carrying the popcorn, to find ZSI vehicles on the pad, Gary De'Snake near the entrance, the chief engineer sitting at his console, and a question about where he was.

An old tortoise who has run the station since the district was restored, and who drove across the city to investigate a crisis that an empty chair made possible. His question to Dewey is the last thing said at the station.
