The Lynxley Journal is a historical artifact that was publicly credited to Ebenezer Lynxley, Zootopia's supposed founder. In reality, the journal's metal cover contains a hidden map—readable only by a pit viper's heat-sensing abilities—that reveals the location of Agnes De'Snake's original patent for the Weather Walls.

History

Zootopia 2

The journal is displayed publicly for the first time at the Zootennial Gala hosted by the Lynxley family. Gary De'Snake infiltrates the gala and steals the journal, knowing it contains the key to proving his great-grandmother Agnes De'Snake was the true inventor of the Weather Walls.

Using his pit viper heat-sensing organs, Gary reads the hidden images on the journal's metal cover, revealing the location of a lighthouse that leads to Reptile Ravine—the buried ancestral home of Zootopia's reptile population. Inside Agnes's home, the heroes find her original patent, proving the Lynxleys are frauds.

Significance

The Lynxley Journal is the physical embodiment of the founding lie at the heart of Zootopia. For a century, it was displayed as evidence of Lynxley genius. In truth, it was a map leading to the proof of Lynxley theft—hidden in a medium only the victims' descendants could read. Agnes designed her revenge to require a pit viper, ensuring that only a reptile could expose the truth.
