Spotrick
Spotrick is an ocelot in We Can Fix Pawbert and one of the mammals Mikhail Icener's network tries to hire off the back of a criminal record. He is intercepted by Pawbert at a Canyonlands diner in "Traceback" and walks out of it a witness rather than a recruit.
Background
Spotrick is in his mid-twenties and has a conviction behind him. The record is the whole of his problem: interviews go well until the background check runs, and after that he is looked at as though he is already guilty of whatever happens next. That dead end, rather than any sympathy for the network, is what puts him in a booth across from a recruiter offering good money and no questions asked.
Series History
Season 5
In "Traceback", Spotrick is waiting in a back booth of the Dusty Mesa Diner with a copy of Yevgeni's recruitment folder in front of him when the pack runs the arctic fox down in the streets outside. Pawbert works out that the recruit is still inside, goes in alone, and finds him. Their eyes meet across the room and Spotrick bolts for the bathroom and locks the door behind him.
Pawbert does not chase. He knocks, says he is not a police officer, gives his name and his job at Zootopia Reentry Services, and waits. What comes back through the door is a terrified insistence that he did not do anything, repeated twice. When the lock finally turns, Spotrick is against the far wall with his arms wrapped around himself, shaking and crying, unable to get through a sentence about not going back.
What steadies him is not reassurance but Pawbert's own record. Told that the mammal in the doorway served two years and has been out three, Spotrick loosens his grip on his own arms, asks whether that is really true, and begins to listen. He describes what the fox sold him — construction work, then equipment installation, then weather wall maintenance, always well paid and incurious — and admits he took the meeting because there was nothing else.
Asked what he actually saw, he remembers a list of properties spread across the city, with different crews assigned to different addresses, and says he would recognize the ones he was shown if they were put in front of him again. He tenses when Pawbert says the next conversation will be with ZSI, and settles when Pawbert promises him he is a witness rather than a suspect and that he intends to keep it that way. His arms come unwrapped, he nods, and he walks out of the bathroom on his own. That evening at the Crisis Coordination Center he is held in a separate area from Yevgeni, exactly as promised.

Spotrick is the clearest demonstration in the season of why Pawbert's reentry work matters to the investigation. Pawbert reaches him by naming his own conviction, and the trust that buys turns a fleeing recruit into a cooperating witness. The encounter also sharpens Pawbert's argument to the pack that the network is deliberately hiring the mammals nobody else will employ.
Yevgeni
Yevgeni is the recruiter who arranged the meeting, and Spotrick had accepted the pitch far enough to be handed a copy of the same folder the fox was carrying. He never learns the recruiter's name on the page — to him he is only the fox who ran.
