Viktor Grodnik
Viktor Grodnik is a wolverine and a logistics operative for Mikhail Icener's Vladifrostok-based network in We Can Fix Pawbert. Introduced in "Cost of Entry", he is captured during a multi-site raid operation and provides crucial intelligence about an impending attack on Tundratown.
Background
Grodnik operates at the logistics level of Icener's network, responsible for staging supplies and rotating between different sites. He is low enough in the organization that he lacks knowledge of The Root's location or specific attack timings, but high enough to be aware of major operations being planned.
Personality
Grodnik's terror has nothing to do with ZSI; it is Icener, and what Icener does to mammals who betray him. He answers the easy questions readily enough and stalls only when the specifics get dangerous, and in the end simple survival beats the fear. By the time he looks from Shaw to Luther and realizes he has already said too much to take any of it back, desperation is all that is left on his face.
Series History
Season 5
During the three-site raid operation in "Cost of Entry", Charlie team under Lieutenant Grey raids an infrastructure depot in the Canal District. Unlike Alpha and Bravo sites which were already cleared out, Charlie encounters resistance — operatives who were protecting something. Grodnik is shot and captured, along with two polar bear operatives who surrender; an arctic fox escapes out the back. At ZSI headquarters, his wound is treated and stabilized before Shaw begins interrogation. He gives up his name and his function without much of a fight and hesitates only when Shaw presses him for the sites themselves. When pressed on The Root he admits he does not know where it is, and Shaw can see he is telling the truth — that level of intelligence sits above his position. She tells him the mammals who left him behind are not coming to save him and that the only way out is to give ZSI something useful, and Grodnik breaks. He provides something almost as valuable as The Root: warning of an impending attack on Tundratown, forces and weapons massing somewhere in the district, timing soon, days maybe, meant to make an example of the district and prove that losing the weather walls has not beaten them. This intelligence leads ZSI to coordinate with Mr. Big for Tundratown's defense.
