Viktor Grodnik

Viktor Grodnik is a wolverine and a logistics operative for Mikhail Icener's Vladifrostok-based network in We Can Fix Pawbert. Introduced in "Cost of Entry", he is captured during a multi-site raid operation and provides crucial intelligence about an impending attack on Tundratown.

Background

Grodnik operates at the logistics level of Icener's network, responsible for staging supplies and rotating between different sites. He is low enough in the organization that he lacks knowledge of The Root's location or specific attack timings, but high enough to be aware of major operations being planned.

Personality

Grodnik is terrified of two things: ZSI and what Icener does to mammals who betray him. When captured, he initially resists interrogation out of fear of retribution, but self-preservation ultimately wins out. Shaw and Luther recognize that he has already said too much to take back once he begins talking, using this momentum to extract additional intelligence.

Season 5

• "Cost of Entry": During the three-site raid operation, Charlie team under Lieutenant Grey raids a depot in the outer districts. Unlike Alpha and Bravo sites which were already cleared out, Charlie encounters resistance—operatives who were protecting something. Grodnik is wounded and captured along with two polar bear operatives; an arctic fox escapes. At ZSI headquarters, his wound is treated and stabilized before Shaw begins interrogation. Grodnik initially refuses to cooperate, but his fear of Icener wars with his fear of imprisonment. When Shaw makes clear that the mammals who left him behind are not coming to save him, Grodnik breaks. He reveals his name and role in staging and rotating supplies between sites. When pressed for information about The Root, he admits he does not know—that level of intelligence is above his position. However, he provides something almost as valuable: warning of an impending attack on Tundratown. He describes forces and weapons massing somewhere in the district, with timing "soon—days, maybe." This intelligence leads ZSI to coordinate with Mr. Big for Tundratown's defense.
