Series History
Zootopia 2
Mr. Big assists Nick and Judy during the Lynxley conspiracy, providing resources and intelligence. He names his goddaughter Judith after Judy—a sign of his respect and affection.
Season 5: The Icener Crisis
When Icener's campaign threatens Tundratown, Costa tacitly authorizes contact with Mr. Big (E11). In "The Message", Nick and Judy visit the compound to find it already operating as a military staging area—Big has been working since Judy's call. He identifies Icener's command center at the Frostbite Processing plant, reveals that Vladifrostok's climate system was built by a Zootopia company designed to fail, and proposes a joint operation with ZSI. His motivation is territorial and personal: "He came into my territory. He killed my neighbors... That is an insult I do not forgive." His declaration—"I LOVE this city"—reframes him from criminal to protector. Raymond and eleven polar bears carry incendiary shotguns to hold the perimeter during the assault, and their breach through the main entrance—polar bear versus polar bear—is decisive.
In "Cost of Entry", Judy calls to warn Big of an imminent conventional attack on Tundratown. Big has been expecting the call, pledging to mobilize every loyal mammal. He studies maps of Tundratown with Raymond, who identifies the likely approaches and assures Big that he has eyes on every street.
In "The Godfather", Mr. Big's mansion becomes ZSI's temporary headquarters after the building collapse. He observes that a crime boss and law enforcement working from the same building would have been unthinkable six years ago. When Shaw's professional interrogation of a captured wolverine produces nothing, Mr. Big offers his services—Costa authorizes with "This conversation never happened." In the wine cellar, flanked by Raymond and Koslov, Mr. Big breaks the prisoner through presence and reputation alone, extracting the confirmation that the attack is imminent: hours, not days. In a private moment with Fru Fru and Koslov, he gives succession instructions: if he falls, Fru Fru takes over, Koslov protects the family. His parting instruction—"Protect my daughter. Protect my grandchild. Protect this family"—is met with Koslov's pledge: "With my life, boss."
In E19 "Tundratown Requiem," Mr. Big dies defending Tundratown and protecting ZSI command. He shoots an Icener operative in the eye before being killed by that same operative. His final words are to Nick: "Nicholas... You were always kind."
Nick carries Mr. Big's body through the mansion. The guilt stays with him: "Icener pulled the trigger. But I loaded the gun."
Key Relationships

Mr. Big and Nick share a complicated history that evolved into genuine respect and affection. Nick's grief over Mr. Big's death is one of the most emotionally devastating arcs of Season 5. Mr. Big's final words—"Nicholas... You were always kind"—are both a farewell and a blessing.
