Season 5: The Icener Crisis

When Icener's campaign threatens Tundratown, the pack considers reaching out to Mr. Big. In "The Network", Nick proposes contacting Mr. Big, wanting the best infiltration team he knows. Judy calls Fru Fru in "Climate Control" to arrange a meeting with her father. Costa tacitly authorizes contact with Mr. Big. In "The Message", Nick and Judy visit the compound to find it already operating as a military staging area — Big has been working since Judy's call. He identifies Icener's command center at the Frostbite Processing plant, reveals the Zootopia company behind Vladifrostok's failed climate system, and proposes a joint operation with ZSI. His motivation is territorial and personal: "He came into my territory. He killed my neighbors. He did not ask permission. He did not show respect." His declaration — "I LOVE this city." — reframes him from criminal to protector. Raymond holds the perimeter with ten polar bears armed with incendiary shotguns, and when the ZSI teams inside are pinned he blows the corridor's outer wall and takes his bears through the breach — polar bear against polar bear, and decisive.

In "Cost of Entry", Judy calls to warn Big of an imminent conventional attack on Tundratown. Big has been expecting the call, pledging to mobilize every loyal mammal. He studies maps of Tundratown with Raymond, who identifies the likely approaches and assures Big that he has eyes on every street.

In "The Godfather", Mr. Big's mansion becomes ZSI's temporary headquarters after the building collapse. He observes that a crime boss and law enforcement working from the same building would have been unthinkable six years ago. When Shaw's professional interrogation of a captured wolverine produces nothing, Mr. Big offers his services — Costa authorizes with "This conversation never happened." In the wine cellar, flanked by Raymond and Koslov, Mr. Big breaks the prisoner through presence and reputation alone, extracting the confirmation that the attack is imminent: hours, not days. In a private moment with Fru Fru and Koslov, he sets out what happens if he falls: Koslov knows what to do and will protect the family, with Raymond and Kevin following him. He then asks Fru Fru whether she remembers her promise and has her recite it — she takes over, she protects the family, she leads. His parting instruction — "Protect my daughter. Protect my grandchild. Protect this family." — is met with Koslov's pledge: "With my life, boss."

In "Tundratown Requiem", Mr. Big dies defending Tundratown and protecting ZSI command. He shoots an Icener operative in the eye before being killed by that same operative. His final words are to Nick: "You were always kind, Nicholas."

Nick carries Mr. Big's body through the mansion. The guilt stays with him: "Icener pulled the trigger." / "But I loaded the gun."

Tundratown buries him in "Complacency", in the old cemetery where the district's founding families have laid their dead for generations. Polar bears fill the frozen ground in loose clusters, and at the center stands a casket carved from Tundratown oak and inlaid with silver filigree, sized for a polar bear because that is what tradition demands — the mammal inside could fit in a matchbox. Fru Fru delivers the eulogy with Koslov at her back, naming her father a businessmammal to some and a threat to others, and to Tundratown a protector who loved the city more than anyone knew. Nick and Judy stand in the crowd, unquestioned. The casket is far too large to lower without specialized equipment and remains in place as the mourners file toward their cars.
