Dr. Madge is a honey badger and the doctor Leodore Lionheart put in charge of the medical side of his secret containment of savage predators at Cliffside Asylum. She originates in Zootopia and makes her first appearance in We Can Fix Pawbert in the W-Series, in Luther's flashback in "Good Wolf", where she is only ever called Dr. Madge.

Background

In the film she is the doctor running tests on the predators Lionheart's wolves bring to the island, and her argument with the Mayor on the cell row โ€” that only predators are going savage, that it cannot be kept a secret, that the city has to be told โ€” is the conversation Judy records, and that recording brings the ZPD to Cliffside the same night.

Personality

She is exhausted and honest. On the page she has visibly stopped sleeping, and she is the one mammal inside the operation who tells the Mayor to his face that what he is doing cannot be kept.

Series History

W-Series

In "Good Wolf", Luther remembers her as the mammal who ran the medical side of Cliffside. She drew blood, ran panels and filled whiteboards with chemistry, and none of it told her why, while the cells kept filling. When Luther twice reported an otter pressing his paw to the glass and recommended a medical assessment, the senior wolf on the rotation entered a single line in the log and closed the question. On the breach night Luther, standing in a side passage, hears her on the cell row telling Lionheart that the only animals going savage are predators and that they cannot keep it a secret, and hears the Mayor answer that the public would learn their mayor is a lion. When a phone rings somewhere down the cell row, it is her voice that tells him to go and orders security to sweep the area, and she and the Mayor run straight into Luther's passage, where he puts them behind him against the wall before the alarm breaks. Years later, answering Nick's devil's advocate at the kitchen table, Luther counts her among the reasons the crime was the hiding rather than the locking up, since the only doctor searching for the cause had been ordered into silence and had told the Mayor to his face that the secret could not be kept.

Key Relationships

Leodore Lionheart

She works inside his operation and argues with him inside it. He wants the cause found and the secret kept; she tells him the two cannot both be had.

Luther Pawthorne

They never exchange a word on the page. He hears her through a doorway, secures her in a passage with his sidearm out, and years later names what she tried to do when he sets out why the concealment was the crime.
