What got him out of it was telling the truth repeatedly until enough mammals believed him, though not all of them and not quickly. He does not say more about it than that, and nobody in the safehouse asks.

Mike is the mammal Luther calls in S01E21 "Counsel", on an unlisted phone, after the first day of trial makes prosecutor Louis Grazella's passivity impossible to explain away. He recognizes the voice, says the request is above his pay grade, and turns it into a full Pearson Specter Litt deployment inside three hours. Once the firm is in the safehouse he separates from the group to reach Pawbert directly, telling him he has been the mammal everyone wants to throw under the bus and the one whose word is worth nothing because of what he did to survive. He also runs the first pass of witness prep that night, coaching Pawbert on the cooperation agreement: admit the self-interest instead of denying it, then turn the answer back toward the truth.
In S01E22 "Moot", Mike finds him again after Harvey has finished taking him apart, this time on the question the cross made unbearable, whether the relationship with Luther really is the liability Harvey made it sound like. Mike refuses the premise. He has seen how Luther looks at Pawbert, and what he saw was not manipulation. What he gives him instead of comfort is a shape to use on the stand: confirm it, decline to explain it, and move the room back to the evidence. Nothing about the good parts is owed to anyone. On his way out he grips Pawbert's forearm, refuses the thanks, and tells him to win instead.
Season 3: Worth Clawing For (S03E03)
Mike attends the quarterly Public Defender Recognition Ceremony at City Hall alongside Harvey Specter in "Worth Clawing For". When Harvey offers Nikki Bramble a position at Specter Litt, Mike participates in the pitch but shows genuine respect when she declines.
Harvey walks out on the refusal; Mike lingers long enough to tell Nikki he thinks she is making the right call, and she tells him she knows.
