Pearson Specter Litt

Pearson Specter Litt (commonly PSL) is a law firm that works the Lynxley RICO prosecution from outside the record during Season 1, preparing Pawbert Lynxley and the pack to testify and building the corruption case that removes the compromised prosecutor. The firm's involvement comes off the books through Luther's contact with Mike Ross.

The firm's central condition is set by Jessica Pearson within minutes of arriving, before anyone else can propose terms: PSL's name stays off every document, out of every filing, and away from every courtroom appearance. Nikki Bramble remains counsel of record, and everything the firm builds flows out through her office as her work. Harvey gives the reason when Nikki asks. The Lynxleys once tried to buy PSL, the firm declined, and the family retaliated; if their name appears anywhere in the case, the family will make the trial about the firm instead of about themselves. Donna adds the practical half of it, that RICO cases draw subpoenas and nobody at PSL wants to spend three years in depositions.

The arrangement holds all the way to the filing. The corruption evidence becomes a referral signed by Nikki, and the sealed motion to disqualify is filed by the Attorney General's office under its own name, so the defense has no standing argument to raise against it. Nothing on the record ever carries the firm's name, and the last thing Louis says on the way out is that if anyone asks, they were never here.

S01E21 - "Counsel"

The first day of the Lynxley RICO trial makes prosecutor Louis Grazella's passivity impossible to ignore. Luther calls Mike Ross on an unlisted phone and collects an old favor, and PSL is in the safehouse the same night. Harvey isolates the tell in Grazella's sudden change of style, Jessica splits the problem into coordination and payment, and by dawn Donna has both threads: e-filing logs showing Grazella opened defense documents before they were served, and a payment trail running from a Lynxley subsidiary through a shell nonprofit to a company registered to Grazella's brother-in-law.

S01E22 - "Moot"

The safehouse becomes a mock courtroom. Harvey plays defense attorney Ryshard Vale and crosses Pawbert, Judy, Nick, and Luther in turn while Louis drills Nikki on objections and Jessica sits as judge. Harvey's cross of Pawbert forces the relationship with Luther into the open and pushes him to the point of collapse, then teaches him the recovery: redirect to the evidence, own the relationship, do not apologize for it. Luther's certified surveillance footage of Vale and Grazella meeting off the record completes the evidence package, and the referral goes to the Attorney General that afternoon.

S03E03 - "Worth Clawing For"

Harvey and Mike sit through the quarterly Public Defender Recognition Ceremony in City Hall's ceremonial chamber, where Mayor Brian Winddancer hands Nikki Bramble a modest plaque for her work on the Lynxley case. She takes three sentences at the podium and sits down, which Harvey approves of.

The firm's name has changed in the interval: Harvey calls it Specter Litt, and Nikki's first response is to ask whether Pearson finally left. Harvey circles the job offer without ever quite making it, Mike says it out loud on his behalf, and Nikki turns it down flat, without apology and without an explanation she does not owe anyone. Harvey's expression gives away nothing, but he gives her a single sharp nod before he goes.

Significance

PSL has no obligation to the case and takes it because Luther asked and because the Lynxleys are old enemies. What the firm supplies is the thing the prosecution had stopped supplying: an adversary willing to fight, borrowed for two days and handed to a public defender who then has to carry it alone.

Harvey's parting instruction, "Make it count," becomes a touchstone Nikki Bramble returns to in "The Ask" at the clemency hearing: "One year. Make it count."
