Torres is a wolverine and the fire captain of Station 113. He commands the first ZFD crew to respond to the Tundratown-Sahara Square weather wall attack in S02E16 "The Wall".

Background

Torres is a grizzled fire captain and has a grandson old enough for him to measure a trapped kit against. He commands Station 113 alongside Okafor, Walsh and Reyes, and at the weather wall he works the incident from inside the tunnel rather than from the staging area.

Personality

Torres is decisive under pressure and protective of his crew. Caught between reaching trapped civilians and keeping his own mammals out of the wall's erratic temperature swings, he pushes himself past the line he would draw for anyone else, crawling under an unstable slab toward the sound of a crying kit until his own team drags him back out.

Series Appearances

Season 2: The Wall (S02E16)

Torres and Station 113 arrive within minutes of the weather wall explosion. Taking one look at the tunnel, Torres immediately recognizes the dual nature of the crisis: structural collapse compounded by climate bleed between districts.

He directs his crew to fan out โ€” Okafor working the left side, Walsh hauling equipment, Reyes coordinating with incoming ambulances. When he hears crying from beneath a collapsed slab โ€” a kit, he thinks, maybe the same age as his grandson โ€” Torres tries to crawl under the debris to reach it. The wall throws a sudden, brutal heat spike, and Walsh has to drag him back out.

When Okafor is shot by armed attackers who emerge from the far end of the tunnel, Torres drags the wounded leopard backward with his paws slicking with blood through his gloves, and O'Donnell pulls them both the rest of the way behind cover while returning fire. Okafor survives the chest wound.

After Reacher's team and Luther break the armed unit and engineers stabilize the wall section, Torres goes back into the collapsed area and gets the trapped kit out. She reaches the medical tent with a broken arm and nothing worse.

Key Relationships

Okafor

Torres goes for Okafor the moment the leopard goes down, dragging him back across open ground while the armed unit is still firing.

Walsh

Walsh serves as Torres's practical counterbalance, pulling the captain back from dangerous situations when necessary. When Torres tries to crawl under unstable debris and the wall throws a sudden heat spike, Walsh drags him out from under it. Torres says they cannot get anyone out while the wall keeps twitching; Walsh answers that they stabilize the wall, then.
