Bonnie Hopps
Bonnie Hopps is a gray rabbit and the mother of Judy Hopps in We Can Fix Pawbert. A carrot farmer from Bunnyburrow, Bonnie attends her daughter's wedding to Nick alongside her husband Stu, offering maternal warmth to both Judy and Pawbert on the wedding day.
In Zootopia
Bonnie and Stu Hopps run the Hopps family farm in Bunnyburrow, where they have raised over 275 children. While initially cautious about Judy's ambition to become the first rabbit police officer in Zootopia due to the dangers it presented, Bonnie ultimately supported her daughter's dream.
Bonnie and Stu later demonstrated genuine personal growth by accepting Gideon Grey, a fox who had bullied Judy as a child, as their business partner after he became a successful baker. This willingness to look past old prejudices foreshadowed their later acceptance of Nick Wilde.
Series History
Season 5: The Wedding
Bonnie arrives at the World Celebration Gardens with Stu for the double wedding. As they enter, she notes with glistening eyes that their little girl is getting married to a fox. Stu affirms that Nick is a good fox, and she agrees.
In the bridal suite before the ceremony, Bonnie helps with Judy's veil, her paws gentle on the fabric. When she tells Judy she looks beautiful, Judy calls her "Mom" in that particular way that daughters do. Bonnie replies softly that a mother always sees her baby, no matter how grown up she becomes.
When Pawbert quietly remarks that his own mother would have loved the wedding, Bonnie asks him to tell her about Lillian. The room stills as Pawbert shares his mother's words about finding someone who loves all of him and building a life together. He admits he never believed her at the time, having thought love was conditional, earned, and temporary. Bonnie moves toward him with maternal warmth, and when Pawbert looks at his ring and says it no longer feels like something he stole, she accepts him with the same openness she has always shown Judy's found family.
