Breck Clawmark
Breck Clawmark, known as "The Eraser," is a badger and a twenty-three-year veteran of the City Records vault in We Can Fix Pawbert. Working as a notary, he used his position to fabricate psychiatric evaluations, false histories, and forged identities for the Lynxley Network. He is arrested at his shredder in "The Eraser", and under interrogation gives up the existence of a mammal above him in the chain, known to him only as The Architect.
"I don't know his real name. We called him 'The Architect.' He handles the money. All of it." โ Breck Clawmark, under interrogation ("The Eraser")
Background
Clawmark spent twenty-three years in the City Records vault, using his position as a notary to serve the Lynxley network. His specialty was fabrication: creating false psychiatric evaluations, manufacturing histories for network operatives, and forging identities that could withstand scrutiny. His access to official records and his ability to insert forged documents into the system made him a long-term asset for the Lynxley empire's efforts to control narratives and discredit threats.
Series History
Season 1
S01E03 "The Eraser"
Clawmark reaches the investigation through Pawbert, who names him at the safehouse as the notary his father called "the eraser." Word that Hackjaw is in custody reaches Clawmark first, and he spends the night at the vault shredder trying to get ahead of it. Because the network has mammals in the courts, the warrant goes sealed to a duty judge rather than through the clerk's office, and Nick draws vault security to the lobby while Judy and Luther bypass the checkpoint. They catch Clawmark with a page still in his paw. He runs, and Luther puts him on the tile.
What he was destroying is a fabricated psychiatric file on Pawbert, a progression of invented diagnoses written to make any testimony he ever gave read as unreliable. In the interrogation room the fight goes out of him. He gives up a mammal above him in the chain whose real name he never learned, describes a mink in expensive suits he saw once across a room, and says the money all runs through him. He also volunteers the thing that puts Pawbert back in the field: Milton liked to introduce his inner circle at events, so anyone who stood in those rooms would know the face. The name behind the codename, Vesper Coade, comes out at the Infrastructure Gala in "The Architect".
Key Relationships
Pawbert Pawthorne
Clawmark's fabricated psychiatric diagnoses were specifically designed to destroy Pawbert's credibility. The false diagnoses of paranoid schizophrenia, antisocial personality disorder, and pathological lying represent the Lynxley network's attempt to discredit Pawbert through institutional manipulation rather than direct violence.
Vesper Coade
Clawmark never learned Coade's name and saw him once, from across a room. What he can give investigators is a species, a description, and the fact that the money runs through him, which is enough to send the team looking at infrastructure money.
Milton Lynxley
Clawmark served Milton's network for over two decades, using his position in the City Records vault to protect the Lynxley empire through document manipulation.
