"Tonight. Zero-three-hundred. No survivors." โ€” Oxbow, "The Architect"

Background

Oxbow was a former military contractor kept by the Lynxley Network for the work it would not hand to freelancers. His unit was activated by Vesper Coade on Coade's own initiative, from a penthouse office, on the night Breck Clawmark's arrest reached the news in "The Architect". The order went out before the Infrastructure Gala, before Coade ever made Pawbert an offer, and before Pawbert refused it. By the time Coade sat in a ZPD interrogation room telling Judy and Luther that the professionals came next, Oxbow already had the safehouse pinned on his corkboard and a timeline left to his own discretion.

Personality

Oxbow is defined by military discipline and lethal efficiency. He does not negotiate or posture โ€” he issues orders and executes operations. His command style is terse and absolute, reflecting a career built on controlled violence.

Series History

Season 1

"The Architect"

Oxbow takes the confirmation call in a windowless room with his squad already checking weapons behind him. The address he is given is the one he pinned on his own corkboard an hour before the call came in, and the timeline is left to him. He sets it for that night at 0300, with no survivors.

"Breach"

Oxbow briefs the squad one last time in a Marshlands warehouse before the assault: the witness dies tonight, that part is not negotiable, and anyone who gets in the way dies with him. No witnesses, no survivors. It is Gasket who raises the wolf, and Oxbow who rules that he dies too.

He comes through the back door himself, into a house where three of his operatives are already dead, and what he finds there interests him enough to ask about it mid-firefight. He calls out that Luther is not ZPD, that it shows in the way he moves and the way he fights, and he wants to know what he is. Luther never answers. Oxbow drives the kitchen island into him and cracks his ribs with a hoof, and in the close fighting that follows a horn tears a long furrow through Luther's shoulder. It is not enough. Luther puts a round from a backup pistol into his thigh, kicks the wounded leg out from under him, gets both paws around the thick neck, and holds on through a blow to his own broken ribs until the musk ox stops moving.

Death

Oxbow is strangled by Luther on the kitchen floor of the safehouse, the fifth of the six operatives to die there.

Key Relationships

Luther Pawthorne

Oxbow is the most direct military force the Lynxley network brings against Pawbert, and Luther beats him in close quarters while already shot, cut, and carrying broken ribs. Oxbow is also the only member of the squad to work out mid-fight that the wolf in front of him is not what his intelligence said he was, and he dies without getting an answer.

Vesper Coade

Coade made the call that activated Oxbow's squad, before his own arrest, and privately resented that Milton had not put him in charge of the problem sooner. He gave his interrogators no names afterward because he had none, and the operation was already running by the time he warned them it existed.

Gasket

Gasket served as Oxbow's armorer and equipment specialist, distributing specialized gear to the squad before the breach.
