Pack Charter
The Pack Charter is a formal household agreement established in S04E12 when Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps officially move into Pawthorne Mansion. It codifies the rules of pack life for all four members living together.
Rules
1. Closed File
"I can't tell you, and I don't want you to guess." When a case or mission is classified, pack members do not press for details. No questions, no hurt feelings. This protects both operational security and emotional boundaries.
First deployed in S04E15 "Radio Silence" when Luther is summoned on an urgent ZSI mission at 3 AM, leaving only "closed file" as explanation.
2. Visitors Announced
Advance notice for all visitors, especially for the Pawthorne parents.
3. Food Labeling
Unlabeled items in the kitchen are communal. Nick's snack drawer is off-limits.
4. Quiet Hours
Anyone can request quiet hours. No questions. Just space.
5. Knock First
Every time. Even if you think no one's home.
6. The Wilde Amendment
Added by Nick Wilde: "We do not pry. We do comfort. We do snacks."
- If someone is upset, offer comfort first, questions never (unless invited)
- Respecting each other's privacy and processing time
- Snacks are a valid form of emotional support
Significance
The Pack Charter represents the transition from crisis-bonded found family to intentional domestic partnership. It acknowledges that living together requires explicit agreements---especially for four mammals with trauma histories, security clearances, and very different communication styles.
The Charter also marks the moment the mansion officially becomes the pack's home rather than Luther's house with guests.
