Robin Scherbatsky
Robin Scherbatsky is a snow leopard and a journalist with World Wide News, working out of its Gnu York bureau. She is introduced in the W-Series in "Porch Test", where months of reporting on the Vladifrostok reconstruction bring her to the one question her documents cannot answer, and to the pack.
Background
Robin has years behind her on institutional failure, which is where she learned to ask about a structure rather than about the mammals inside it. Her own first days went fine and were followed by a move to the four-in-the-morning show, whose audience she describes as nobody. By the time of "Porch Test" she has been on the Vladifrostok reconstruction for months, following the aid pipeline, the money and what has actually been rebuilt. Her sources are reconstruction staff, contacts inside the city, the engineers who put the grid back together, and a quantity of public records she declines to quantify.
She drinks at MacLaren's after work with four friends who do not check before turning up.
Personality
Her method is the first thing she shows anybody. She lays her paperwork on the table before she asks a question, names aloud what she can print without her subjects, what her sources already support, and what she refuses to print because she would not know what she was printing. She does not argue with a refusal; she writes it down and moves on, and the ease of the move is what convinces the mammal who refused. She holds an answer longer than the note-taking requires, takes a correction without defensiveness, and is direct about how a disagreement over a true sentence usually ends.
Series History
W-Series
In "Porch Test", Robin calls ZRS and asks for Pawbert. Three public documents brought her there: a Department of External Relations delegation notice carrying the pack's four names, a Novaya Gazette clipping that credited Nick with a rank that does not exist, and a culture committee panel program that seated the invented title beside Vladifrostok's Director of Reconstruction. She called Precinct 1 to check the rank and a sergeant laughed at her, and the pattern of four names across three unconnected places would not leave her alone. She offers her own ground rather than a studio, accepts Luther's condition that anything he declines she accepts, and offers a draft ahead of publication for accuracy rather than approval.
At MacLaren's she lays out three documents and three piles, and asks the single question she came with: why the same four names keep surfacing in unrelated places. She takes Pawbert's answer about the debt, puts the chosen tolerances in the Vladifrostok specifications to him and gets no dispute, tells Judy that hers is a cleaner sentence than she has had from anyone with a badge, and writes Luther's refusal out longhand. When Pawbert volunteers the failsafe, she puts it plainly, that the activation is confirmed and has never been attributed, and takes his answer on the record before closing the notebook and turning the recorder off. The conclusion she reaches is her own: one Lynxley built what wrecked Vladifrostok, and a second triggered what spared Zootopia. Refusals stay out, and the redacted interval is printed as a hole rather than filled. Before her friends arrive she tells the pack that the crisis material sits on a declassification schedule, that the piece will read differently once the files open, and that she will be calling again when they do.
Her friends turn up unannounced, the booth stretches, and the evening runs long. When Lily recounts the test she used to run on Ted's dates, Robin supplies the deadpan for the earring that once ended up in his bed, and later rules that Barney would have failed the test for talking while it ran. She holds Pawbert's paw an extra beat at the goodbye and puts the draft at two weeks, maybe three.

Pawbert Pawthorne
Her subject and, by the end of the evening, her standing appointment. He gives her the interview's one unforced disclosure; she gives him a piece that prints his refusal as a refusal and his gap as a gap, and the promise of a second call.
Luther Pawthorne
The mammal who told her no and made it stick. She accepts the condition before the recorder runs, declines to argue when he uses it, and writes the refusal down, which is what turns his caution into something closer to trust.
Judy Hopps
Professional kinship across the table. They trade first-day stories, and Judy laughs for the first time all evening at the four-in-the-morning show and the audience it did not have.
The pride
Her four friends: Ted, Marshall, Lily and Barney. She has been careful with the pack all evening in a way Marshall notices immediately, because she is careful with nobody.

- The contact saved as FURY on her phone, which she swipes away unopened, is a casting joke: Robin's actress, Cobie Smulders, also plays Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
