Flash Slothmore
Flash Slothmore is a three-toed sloth who works a window at the Department of Mammal Vehicles office in Savanna Central, and an old friend of Nick's. He comes from Zootopia and Zootopia 2, and makes his first appearance in We Can Fix Pawbert in the W-Series, in "Express Lane".
Background
Every clerk at Flash's office is a sloth, and the work moves at their pace. Outside the office he drives a low red sports car with the plate FST NML, fast.
Personality
Flash is warm and patient. He speaks with long pauses between words, and other mammals tend to guess the end of his sentences and guess wrong; a sentence of his can also open on a word that sounds like a refusal before it turns. He straightens other mammals' documents, says he does not smile for photographs and then smiles anyway, and tells groan-worthy jokes, laughs at them in slow bursts and passes them on to Priscilla at the next window. Behind the wheel he signals his lane changes and comes to a full stop before he floors it, and Luther rates him above every professional who has ever driven him.
Series History
Zootopia
Flash is the clerk Nick takes Judy to when the two of them need a license plate run, and the visit eats the rest of their day. In the film's closing scene the slow clerk turns out to be a speeding driver in a red sports car.
Zootopia 2
Flash's car blocks Captain Hoggbottom's dart at Burning Mammal, where it was aimed at Judy, Pawbert and Gary.
W-Series
In "Express Lane" Nick sends Luther to Flash's window, Window Six, to renew his driver's license. Flash greets Nick and Judy, recognizes Pawbert from Burning Mammal and accepts his thanks, finds that he and Luther both straighten their documents, and congratulates Luther on an emergency contact with the same last name. One keystroke from the end he tells a joke, passes it to Priscilla, and finishes on a mandatory software update that closes the office for the day. When his shift ends he drives the pack to an annex Downtown in time for it to print the license, and Luther tells him he is better than every professional who has ever driven him. That night he offers Luther a ride the next day.
Key Relationships
Nick Wilde
An old friend, and in Nick's words one of his favorite mammals in the city. Nick says he still owes him for coming when he called on the worst day of his life. Flash counts a churro as payment.
Pawbert Pawthorne
Flash's car saved Pawbert at Burning Mammal. The two meet properly at Flash's window, where Pawbert thanks him.
Luther Pawthorne
They share a habit of squaring their paperwork and a dislike of smiling for photographs. Luther waits on the stairs for Flash's paw to finish reaching his own.
Priscilla
His wife at the next window, who hears his jokes.
