Officer Delgato
Officer Delgato is a savanna lion and a ZPD officer assigned to relief and protection detail at the safehouse in We Can Fix Pawbert. More hostile toward Pawbert than his partner Fangmeyer, Delgato insists that Pawbert's muzzle stays on and makes his contempt for the cooperating witness clear.
"He tried to kill Hopps. I know exactly what he is." --- Officer Delgato (S01E03)
Personality
Delgato is blunt and openly hostile toward Pawbert. He sees Pawbert not as a cooperating witness or a victim but as a dangerous predator who attacked Judy Hopps---one of their own. His attitude represents the institutional anger that Pawbert faces from law enforcement mammals who know what the Lynxley family did.
Series History
Season 1
S01E03 "The Eraser"
Delgato serves on the safehouse protection detail alongside Fangmeyer. He insists that Pawbert's muzzle remain on and makes no effort to disguise his hostility. His line---"He tried to kill Hopps. I know exactly what he is"---establishes the prejudice Pawbert faces even from the mammals protecting him.
Season 3
S03E07 "No Time to Die"
Delgato participates in the ZPD response to the Lionheart crisis. He is the officer who radios the critical route switch discovery: "Chief! Line 1 exit! They're coming out of Line 1!"---alerting Chief Bogo that Lionheart outmaneuvered ZPD by switching from Line 3 to Line 1 at Agave Avenue.
Key Relationships
Officer Fangmeyer
Delgato and Fangmeyer share the safehouse assignment but differ sharply in their approach. Fangmeyer is professional; Delgato is personal. The contrast illustrates how Pawbert's situation divides even fellow officers.
Pawbert Pawthorne
Delgato's hostility toward Pawbert is a recurring element of the early safehouse scenes. He represents the institutional barrier Pawbert must overcome: the mammals who see only his crimes, not his circumstances.
