Officer Kett
Officer Kett is a tapir and a prison guard at Zootopia Correctional Facility in We Can Fix Pawbert. One of the guards Warden Hartwell trusts, Kett is a calm, steady presence across Season 2---training Pawbert in physical training and combat during his incarceration, fighting through the prison siege, and ultimately welcoming him back for his final year.
"Hartwell would've been glad. About the commutation." --- Officer Kett (S02E24)
Background
Kett has worked at ZCF for fifteen years. Described as having "calm eyes," he is the kind of guard who does the job without fanfare---competent, reliable, and genuinely invested in the mammals under his watch. He trained Pawbert in PT and self-defense during the year of incarceration, giving the lynx the physical tools to fight back when the time came.
Series History
Season 2
In S02E01, Kett is present during the aftermath of the yard attack, directing Pawbert to medical with quiet authority. In S02E02, he arrives after the shower block assault, takes in the scene of five downed inmates, and helps coordinate the response. He is also present when Warden Hartwell confronts Agent Corbin about the security failures.
During the S02E03 extraction siege, Kett stumbles out of a side corridor bleeding from a head wound but still armed and fighting. He holds Junction C3-A to cover Luther and Pawbert's retreat, telling Luther: "You ARE the backup, Rook. Go." He survives the siege.
In S02E04, Kett handles the property handoff when Nick Wilde retrieves Pawbert's belongings from ZCF. He shares his grief over Hartwell's death and tells Nick that in fifteen years he has seen many inmates give up hope---but Pawbert never did. "Every visit day, he'd be watching the door. Every mail call, he'd be first in line."
Kett returns in S02E24 to escort Pawbert to Cell 3C-17 upon his voluntary return. He invokes Hartwell's memory---"Hartwell would've been glad"---and welcomes Pawbert back with quiet warmth: "Try to stay out of trouble this time."
Kett's training is also referenced in S02E19, when Pawbert fights Clawrence at the CWI. Kett's voice echoes in Pawbert's memory: "You need to be able to protect yourself."

Season 3
Kett continues as a recurring ally throughout the Lionheart crisis arc.
S03E01 "Licence to Claw"
Pawbert approaches Kett to report suspicious activity during kitchen duty---papers exchanged between an inmate (weasel) and a vendor (beaver). Kett makes a note and promises to pass it up: "I'll pass it up."
S03E02 "Fur Your Eyes Only"
Kett informs Pawbert that the new warden dismissed his report as "probably just contraband." He's frustrated: "For what it's worth---I believe you saw something. I just can't make them listen."
S03E04 "Tripwire"
Kett visits Warden Ironsnout's office to advocate for Pawbert, raising concerns about the paper exchange, his protective custody status, and the danger of being in gen pop among the Lynxley family's enemies. Ironsnout dismisses everything, and Kett leaves realizing the warden won't help.
S03E05 "Claw and Present Danger"
During the prison breach chaos, Kett tackles and recaptures Milton Lynxley at the maximum security breach point. He recognizes Luther as undercover and orders his guards: "Let them through. That wolf is undercover. They're with us."
This quick recognition---trusting Luther's ZSI identity despite the chaos---allows Luther and Pawbert to continue pursuing Leodore Lionheart.
S03E08 "A Wanted Mammal"
Kett processes Pawbert's return to ZCF on Day 127 after Pawbert voluntarily returns rather than fleeing during the breach:
- KETT: "Could have run. Breach gave you an opening."
- PAWBERT: "Didn't seem like an option."
Season 4
S04E01 "Release"
Kett escorts Pawbert during his release from ZCF on Day 365. As they walk through the corridors for the last time, Kett shares a personal moment, remembering Warden Hartwell (killed during the extraction two years ago):
"He believed in second chances. Said most mammals in here weren't beyond repair---just beyond the point where anyone was trying."
At the checkpoint, Kett and Pawbert shake paws/hooves. Kett's farewell echoes the words from S02E24:
- KETT: "Don't come back, Lynxley."
- PAWBERT: "Wasn't planning on it."
This marks Kett's final appearance in the series---a fitting farewell from the guard who trained Pawbert, fought beside him, and believed in his potential for change.
