Officer Kett

Season 1

Kett first appears in "Last Morning". Intake is handled by another officer; Kett picks Pawbert up afterward and leads the walk into North Complex, holding a steady pace through the corridor while inmates call the Lynxley name at him through the bars. He takes Pawbert through the heavier doors into Unit 3C, assigns him his cell, and tells him to step inside.

Season 2

In "Rook", Kett runs Pawbert's session in the PT room, correcting his form on the heavy bag, telling him he has come a long way, and sending him out to yard time with instructions to stay visible and stay smart. The training is part of what keeps the lynx standing when the yard attack comes later that morning.

In "Protective Custody", Kett is the trustworthy half of the pair of guards watching the kitchen floor, and when the new transfer Rook puts a honey badger down he sends the inmate to medical without questioning the account he is given. After the shower block assault he is the first through the door. In the warden's office afterward he supplies what Agent Ross cannot: the access code came from a terminal at guard station 8 in C-block, and the officer assigned to that station was Drummond, whom Hartwell had vetted personally. It is the only name the investigation produces that day. Pawbert is also still training with him, a fact Luther confirms in the cell that evening.

During the "Extraction" siege, Kett stumbles out of a side corridor bleeding from a head wound but still armed and fighting. He tells Luther there is no clear route and that the admin block is compromised, then takes Junction C3-A alone to cover the retreat, refusing Luther's protest that they need backup: "You ARE the backup, Rook. Go."

He is next seen alive in "Safehouse", handling the property handoff when Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps collect Pawbert's belongings from ZCF. Fifteen years on the job have shown him inmates who stop waiting and stop hoping, and he tells Nick that Pawbert never did — that the visits and the letters were what the lynx survived on. Before they leave, Nick raises Hartwell, and Kett tells him he was there when they brought the warden's body out.

Kett appears again in "Clean Slate". Two other officers are walking Pawbert back into protective custody when Kett intercepts them mid-corridor, invokes Hartwell's memory, and tells Pawbert he had Cell 3C-17 held for him so he could finish where he started. Then he nods the escort on.

Season 3

Kett continues as a recurring ally throughout the Lionheart crisis arc.

In "Licence to Claw", Pawbert approaches Kett to report suspicious activity during kitchen duty — papers exchanged between an inmate (weasel) and a vendor (beaver). Kett's pen stops on the page. He takes down the details, says he will pass it up, and warns Pawbert that noticing things can make him a target.

In "Fur Your Eyes Only", Kett tells Pawbert he passed the report up and that the new warden dismissed it as probably just contraband. He fought the battle up the chain and lost, and says so: "For what it's worth, I believe you saw something. I just can't make them listen."

In "Worth Clawing For", fire fills the protective custody block and Kett is the one who crashes through Pawbert's cell door to get him out. Pawbert already has a paw on his notebook when Kett refuses it — "No personal effects. Emergency protocol. MOVE." — and hauls him into the corridor by the arm. The notebook slips loose and falls back onto the bunk, his mother's photograph beside it, and when Pawbert looks back through the smoke toward the open cell Kett tells him to keep his eyes forward. The emergency transfer Kett is enforcing is what puts the protective custody inmates into general population.

In "Tripwire", Kett visits Warden Ironsnout's office to advocate for Pawbert, raising concerns about the paper exchange, his protective custody status, and the danger of being in gen pop among the Lynxley family's enemies. Ironsnout dismisses everything, and Kett leaves realizing the warden won't help.

In "Claw and Present Danger", during the prison breach chaos, Kett tackles and recaptures Milton Lynxley at the maximum security breach point. He recognizes Luther as undercover and orders his guards: "Let them through. That wolf is undercover. They're with us." Taking Luther's cover on faith in the middle of a breach is what lets the two of them keep moving toward Leodore Lionheart.

In "A Wanted Mammal", Kett processes Pawbert's return to ZCF after he voluntarily surrenders rather than fleeing during the breach. His observation that Pawbert could have run — and chose not to — carries quiet respect.

Season 4

In "Release", Kett's hooves on the concrete are the first thing Pawbert hears on his release day — the lynx has been awake all night, and Kett calls through the cell door only to check that he is up and to tell him processing is in two hours, with psych first. Later he waits at the protective custody checkpoint, waves off the two officers escorting Pawbert out, and takes him the rest of the way himself. Grief breaks through his professional mask when he raises Warden Hartwell, who believed most mammals inside were not beyond repair, only past the point where anyone was still trying. He reminds Pawbert to report to his parole officer and stay out of trouble, then draws the distinction that matters: Pawbert knows the rules, but outside nobody will be watching his every move, and that is harder than it sounds. He extends his hoof, and Pawbert takes it. This is Kett's final appearance in the series.
