Raymond
Raymond is a polar bear and the field commander for Mr. Big's organization in We Can Fix Pawbert. He leads Big's polar bear forces during the Icener crisis in Season 5, commanding the assault on the Frostbite Processing plant and conducting rescue operations in Reptile Ravine. Following Mr. Big's death in "Tundratown Requiem", Raymond continues to serve under Fru Fru.
Background
Raymond serves as the tactical field commander for Mr. Big's polar bear enforcers. While Koslov acts as Big's personal bodyguard and right-paw mammal, Raymond leads operations in the field. His role requires both combat effectiveness and strategic awareness, making him invaluable when Big's organization allies with ZSI against the Vladifrostok threat.
Personality
Raymond is a mammal of action rather than words โ scarred and silent, big even for a polar bear, an old wound seaming his muzzle and eyes that have seen violence and learned to like it. He carries himself with the flat certainty of an experienced field commander, and his few spoken words are tactical assessments and operational briefings rather than casual conversation.
Series History
Zootopia
Raymond and Kevin abduct Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde after the pair sneaks into a limousine owned by Mr. Big. During the ride, Raymond pulls up photos on his phone and chuckles at a picture of himself and Kevin smiling while strangling a wolf. He and Kevin bring Judy and Nick to Mr. Big's office, where Mr. Big orders them to be iced. Before they can drop them into the freezing water, Fru Fru arrives, and Mr. Big orders Raymond and Kevin to release them. Near the climax, Mr. Big orders Raymond to ice Duke Weaselton. Raymond slowly lowers the weasel toward the icy water to frighten him into cooperating with Judy's investigation, then holds him while he talks.
Season 5
Raymond first appears in "The Message", after Mr. Big commits his organization's forces to the joint operation against Icener's network. He meets Luther at the staging point half a mile from the Frostbite Processing plant and puts ten polar bears plus himself on the perimeter so that no one gets out. When ZSI tactical teams become pinned by heavy fire from six Icener operatives, Raymond hears the radio traffic and makes the call to go in. He blows the corridor's outer wall and pours his bears through the breach with incendiary shotguns blazing, turning the corridor into a battleground of polar bear against polar bear. The breach is decisive, and Raymond's forces fight alongside Luther and ZSI in an unlikely alliance. After the facility is secured, Luther thanks Raymond, who responds simply that it is not over. Raymond then collects his people and vanishes into Tundratown's frozen streets.
In "Cost of Entry", Raymond studies maps of Tundratown with Mr. Big and Koslov, analyzing the likely approaches if Icener launches a conventional attack. He identifies staging areas and assures Big that he has eyes on every street in the district.
In "The Godfather", Raymond carries Mr. Big into the ZSI command center at the mansion and later accompanies him during the wine cellar interrogation of a captured wolverine. When Big leaves the consequence of a lie unspoken, Raymond finishes the sentence for him by cracking his knuckles, the sound echoing off stone walls. Before the final battle, Mr. Big gives succession instructions to Fru Fru and Koslov, stating that if he falls, Raymond and Kevin will follow Koslov's lead.
In "Tundratown Requiem", Mr. Big orders Raymond sent with half the polar bears to protect the reptiles in Reptile Ravine, despite Koslov's warning that this will leave the south sector exposed. Raymond's forces link up with Luther during the rescue operation, providing overwhelming force as they fight through the streets, and his polar bears form the perimeter that covers the retreat while Luther and Pawbert get the surviving reptiles out. After Mr. Big's death, Raymond is the second of the surviving bears to kneel before Fru Fru, following Koslov, as she assumes leadership of the organization.
In "Final Position", Raymond walks into the grand study of the Big mansion, now ZSI's command post, behind Fru Fru as she commits twelve polar bears to the final assault, then rides out with the convoy. During the battle he is hit in the shoulder, blood blooming through white fur and the bandages already there from the night before, but he keeps moving, roaring as he fires. By the end of the operation he is bleeding from multiple wounds and medics converge on him. He survives.
In "Always", Raymond appears in the closing montage at the Big mansion in Tundratown, flanking Fru Fru and little Judith alongside Kevin while Koslov watches from nearby โ the new generation of Big protection, and family as much as security.
