"Pawlawan" is the post-credits scene following "Always", the series finale of We Can Fix Pawbert. Set during the pack's honeymoon on the island nation of Pawlawan, the scene provides an unexpected coda to the Lynxley family story when Pawbert encounters his siblings Cattrick and Kitty, who have been living on the island under assumed names since their escape during the S03 prison breach.

Synopsis

On their honeymoon in Pawlawan, the pack unexpectedly encounters Cattrick and Kitty, who escaped during the prison breach four years earlier and have been living on the island as "Patrick" and "Kay." Over drinks at a cliffside bar, Cattrick reveals why he gave Luther the location that saved Pawbert's life—because Luther's breakdown in the visiting room was the first time he had ever seen someone genuinely love a Lynxley. The pack agrees not to report the encounter, and the siblings part on terms of quiet understanding.

Plot

The pack arrives on Pawlawan for their honeymoon, three weeks after the double wedding. Nick wears a ridiculous tropical shirt and Judy an oversized sun hat as they walk along the waterline. Luther and Pawbert set up under an umbrella nearby, Luther instinctively cataloging every mammal within fifty meters despite being on vacation. The four settle into comfortable silence on the beach—pack, partners, family—doing something as ordinary as lying on sand.

In the late afternoon, Pawbert walks north along the beach alone, needing quiet after years of solitary confinement left him with a complicated relationship with constant companionship. On a quieter stretch of sand, a voice behind him says two words: "Small world." Cattrick Lynxley stands ten feet away, sun-bleached and thinner, wearing loose linen instead of formal attire. Behind him, Kitty emerges—gold jewelry gone, fur natural, wearing a sundress that would have horrified their father. Luther appears moments later, his posture shifting to alert but not threatening. Nick and Judy follow, and the six mammals stand on an empty stretch of beach where the last time most of them shared space was during a prison break.

Cattrick invites them for drinks at a quiet cliffside bar where he and Kitty are regulars. At the bar—a wooden structure built into the cliff face, open to the ocean breeze—the conversation turns to the past. Kitty reveals that Milton used them as physical shields when Winddancer came for him at the manor, a detail never in the trial transcripts. Luther confronts what he has carried for years: during the Clawrence crisis, he visited Cattrick in the ZCF visiting room, desperate and broken, and Cattrick gave him Pawbert's location at the Central Weather Interface. Without that information, Luther would have been too late and Pawbert would have died.

Luther asks why Cattrick helped. Cattrick explains that when Luther broke down in the visiting room, he saw something he had never witnessed in the Lynxley family—a mammal who actually loved someone, not as leverage or exploitation, but genuinely. Milton taught them that love was weakness and anyone who claimed to care was looking for an angle. Luther's vulnerability proved that wrong. Kitty adds that they had never seen anything like it in their family. Cattrick's quiet declaration—that he chose not to be his father—hangs in the air as the defining statement of his transformation.

The conversation shifts to smaller things over hours—childhood memories from before everything went wrong. Kitty remembers young Pawbert getting stuck in the manor oak tree for three hours. Cattrick remembers the silly notes Pawbert used to hide in jacket pockets. Kitty observes that Pawbert was hopeful even then, and that was the strange part. At the path where their directions split, Cattrick extends his paw for a simple handshake, telling Pawbert he is glad he made it out. Pawbert says he is glad Cattrick found somewhere to be Patrick instead of Cattrick. Kitty hugs Pawbert—brief, awkward, the first hug between Lynxley siblings—and tells him to be happy. She asks Luther to take care of him. Luther answers: "Always." The siblings walk up the hill without looking back.

Back at the resort, the pack processes the encounter. Luther confirms they will not report what they found—Pawlawan has no extradition treaty, and more importantly, Cattrick helped save Pawbert's life. Pawbert reflects in their hotel room with Luther that seeing his siblings gave him something he did not know he needed—not closure, but understanding that he was not the only Lynxley who wanted something different. Nick and Judy sit on their balcony, Nick thinking about Mr. Big's death and how mammals can change, Judy observing that perhaps the trying is enough. On the hillside, Cattrick and Kitty—Patrick and Kay—return to their modest house. Kitty says Pawbert looked happy, and neither of them thought he could be after everything. Cattrick whispers to himself: "Good for you, Pawbert." The next morning, the pack returns to the same beach, same towels, same umbrella. Nothing has changed. Everything has changed.

End Credit Song

"Somewhere" (From 'West Side Story'), Marni Nixon & Jim Bryant

"Somewhere" is the perfect choice for a scene about finding peace in an unexpected place. The post-credits scene follows the pack on their honeymoon in Pawlawan, where they unexpectedly encounter Cattrick and Kitty Lynxley—now "Patrick" and "Kay"—who escaped during the S03 prison breach and have been living on the island for four years. The song's opening lines—"there's a place for us, peace and quiet and open air"—describe Pawlawan literally: an island nation with no extradition treaties where mammals go to disappear. But the song also speaks to both families' journeys. The scene ends at sunrise the next morning, the pack back on the beach, planning nothing more significant than trying a restaurant's crab curry. "Just life, finally, as it should be."

Notes

  • This is the only post-series scene that addresses Cattrick and Kitty Lynxley's fate after their escape during the prison breach four years earlier.
  • Cattrick's revelation about the visiting room recontextualizes a pivotal moment from the Clawrence arc—his decision to give Luther the location saved Pawbert's life, making him an unlikely participant in the pack's survival.
  • The siblings now go by "Patrick" and "Kay," teach yoga, and make beaded crafts—a complete inversion of their Lynxley upbringing.
  • Kitty's hug is explicitly the first physical affection between Lynxley siblings—the family did not do physical contact.
  • The scene's structure mirrors the series' themes: mammals defined by their worst moments can become something else if given the chance.
  • Nick's reflection on Mr. Big's death connects to his ongoing grief from the Tundratown battle.
  • The island of Pawlawan is based on Bali but named after Palawan, a Philippine island province.
  • The production code S05E51 places this outside the standard episode numbering, marking it as bonus content.
