Season 5
Season 5 is the fifth and final season of We Can Fix Pawbert, consisting of 24 episodes. It returns to action-thriller intensity as an external threat from Vladifrostok tests every relationship the pack has built. The season ends with the series finale: a double wedding.
"The city survives. You lose." โ Pawbert Pawthorne to Icener, "Final Position"
Overview
Two years after Pawbert's birthday celebration, an external threat emerges: Mikhail Icener, a polar bear from Vladifrostok whose wife died when the city-state's Lynxley-built climate system failed. Icener has spent six years recruiting former Lynxley operatives and infiltrating Zootopia's weather wall operations.
The season's thesis is the fragility of love: what does it mean to love someone who walks toward danger? Every pack member confronts this question as the crisis escalates from investigation to weather wall attacks, building bombings, a Rainforest District fire, ZSI headquarters assault, and a final siege at Pawthorne Mansion.
The climax sees Luther and Pawbert captured by Icener. Pawbert refuses to surrender the weather wall codes even at the cost of Luther's life. He discovers Agnes De'Snake's failsafe code โ FOR_ALL (from "Built by two, for all") โ permanently locking all weather wall systems and ensuring no code could ever be used again, removing Icener's leverage. Luther kills Icener. Luther nearly dies (codes four times). The season concludes with dual proposals and a double wedding.
Plot
Two years after Pawbert's birthday celebration, the season opens in Vladifrostok โ a port city whose Lynxley-built climate system is failing. Three ZSI agents are killed while investigating an infiltration campaign targeting Zootopia, and their intelligence never reaches home. In "Golden Age", Pawbert completes his Post-Release Supervision and settles into peaceful domestic life as a licensed social worker. The contrast between Vladifrostok's collapse and Zootopia's complacency establishes the season's thesis: peace must be actively maintained.
Weather wall tampering devices are discovered in "Pattern Recognition", and a warehouse raid in "Soft Target" captures operative Volkov, who frames the threat in personal terms: his city is dying because of what Zootopia's wealthiest family built and abandoned. Pawbert agrees to visit Milton in prison, and in "Activation", confronts his father face-to-face for the first time since release. Milton provides the name: Mikhail Icener, a polar bear from Vladifrostok whose wife died the first year the Lynxley-built climate system failed. Pawbert becomes a formal ZSI consultant. In "Traceback", he loses his temper for the first time in the series when a colleague dismisses his ZRS clients.
The investigation accelerates through simultaneous raids in "Fieldwork" and network mapping in "The Network". The Brooklyn Nine-Nine crossover returns for a third heist in "The Job" and "Departure", during which Luther and Pawbert exchange intimate nicknames for the first time.
Icener's coordinated weather wall strike in "Misdirection" kills over thirty-eight mammals. Pawbert breaks his promise to stay home and runs a community center shelter for over two hundred displaced mammals. Luther and Pawbert reconcile in "Climate Control" after an emotional confrontation about protection and autonomy. Nick approaches Mr. Big with a proposal: Icener is operating in his territory. The arctic shrew agrees to an alliance. O'Brian broadcasts a kill signal in "The Message" that destroys all tampered weather devices, eliminating Icener's surface network โ but The Root, a buried master control system, remains as his backup.
Bogo is seriously injured when Precinct 1 is bombed in "Strike", leaving him with a permanent cane and ending his field career. The Criminal Minds crossover in "Profile" reveals the Lynxley-Vladifrostok connection โ Milton's company built their climate system to fail. The Rookie crossover stages three simultaneous raids in "Cost of Entry", and the 9-1-1 crossover in "Inferno" brings a catastrophic Rainforest District fire that kills over thirty mammals and reveals Bobby Nash's death six months earlier.
The crisis deepens as ZSI HQ is half-destroyed in "All Paws", with Pawbert saving O'Brian from the collapse. Reacher's team returns from Vladifrostok in "The Godfather" as Pawbert searches Agnes De'Snake's journals in Reptile Ravine, finding a cryptic failsafe clue. Mr. Big dies in "Tundratown Requiem" protecting his territory and ZSI's command, his final words to Nick a quiet acknowledgment of kindness. Luther kills Roskova in the same episode. The decision is made to extract Milton for his weather wall codes.
In "Without Options", Milton reveals the master code but is killed during the extraction convoy ambush. His final act of spite is revealing to Icener's forces that Pawbert now possesses the codes. Shaw dies firing warning shots to alert Luther and Pawbert, who are captured and brought to the mansion. In "Final Position", Icener tortures Luther to force Pawbert to surrender the codes. Pawbert refuses. He discovers Agnes De'Snake's failsafe code โ FOR_ALL, the second half of "Built by two, for all" โ and activates the shutdown. Luther, barely standing, takes Icener's knife and a kicked gun and executes the polar bear. Luther collapses into cardiac arrest. Nick performs CPR. Fru Fru commits twelve polar bears to the assault, honoring her father.
Luther survives, having coded four times total. In "Complacency", Nick is promoted to Detective and funerals are held for Shaw and Mr. Big. Both couples propose on the same weekend without coordination in "Golden Again" โ Nick to Judy in Los Zangeles, Luther to Pawbert at the fairy-lit mansion โ and the decision is made: double wedding. The series finale, "Always", sees all four married at Zootopia World Celebration Gardens, with Mayor Winddancer officiating. Pawbert takes Luther's surname, becoming Pawbert Pawthorne. The series ends with the pack asleep together and the green sweater watching over them.
