Zootopia Media
Zootopia Media is the collective press of the city-state: the Zootopia News Network broadcast desk, a print sector running from the respectable to the openly predatory, and the freelancers and bloggers who fill the gaps between them. The media is rarely a scene partner in We Can Fix Pawbert and almost always a pressure — a television left on in the background, a headline that arrives before the mammals it describes do, a camera on a front lawn.
Zootopia News Network
ZNN is the city-state's main broadcast network and the series' default source of public information. It works less as an institution than as an instrument: a screen someone has forgotten to turn off, carrying the story of the moment into a room that is not ready for it.
The network's anchors are heard rather than seen. Every appearance is a voice over footage, delivering the city's version of events while the mammals living through them watch from a couch.

Broadcasts
In "The Blacklist", Moosebridge runs the arrests on a loop through a safehouse living room — racketeering, fraud and conspiracy, a family photo montage, and the line that a family member is cooperating with authorities. Pawbert is absent from every photograph on the screen. He turns the television off.
In "The Wall", Growley carries the first word of multiple explosions at the Tundratown–Sahara Square interface over aerial footage of smoke coming out of the tunnel. Coverage across the following days settles into casualty updates, expert analysis and hedged speculation about domestic terrorism — every sentence written around a truth nobody will say plainly.
In "The Crown", the network picks up a broadcast signal from inside the interface and interrupts programming to carry it live, putting the same face on every screen in the city.
In "Fur Your Eyes Only", Moosebridge's morning broadcast plays behind Nick and Judy's kitchen: additional charges against former mayor Leodore Lionheart, and Dawn Bellwether's recapture at Outback Island Terminal. Nick's reaction to the first is not the deflection Judy expects.
In "Dead or Alive", the network's displays are hijacked along with every ZTA monitor and every phone with emergency alerts enabled — the city's warning infrastructure repurposed as a stage.
In "Pattern Recognition", Koalabell's international segment reports infrastructure failures in Vladifrostok and unanswered requests for assistance. It is background noise to everyone in the room except Luther, who recognizes the name and says nothing.
In "Climate Control", Growley's coverage of the harbor evacuation and the suspended transit lines plays simultaneously to a shelter where Pawbert sleeps through it and to a bank of monitors in a Tundratown staging area, where it is being watched by the mammal who caused it.
The Press Corps
Where ZNN is a voice, the working press is a body — and it arrives in numbers.
In "Front Lawn", a doorstep operation stakes out Pawthorne Mansion from behind hedges, parked vans and the trees across the street, then swarms the car the moment the gate opens. The pack that day:

The counterexample arrives in "Porch Test": Robin Scherbatsky of World Wide News reaches the pack not through a hedge but through three public documents and a phone call to Pawbert's workplace, and her interview runs on terms the pack set before the recorder went on. Hers is the first press any of them has chosen.
Every crime he committed is shouted at him through the car window. When one of them notices who is in the back seat, the pack turns on Luther as well. Hoofbeat News later escalates to a note reading "PLEASE RESPOND WITHIN ONE HOUR OR WE WILL PUBLISH WITHOUT—".
The siege ends without a single question being answered. Maris and Harlan drive through the blockade, and Maris works the press pool one outlet at a time — reminding the Enquirer that she sits on the boards of three of its advertisers, and Hoofbeat News that its parent company took a Pawthorne Foundation grant for journalism ethics. Harlan works the phones beside her, calling proprietors by name and raising the Foundation's media literacy grants. Phones start ringing across the lawn. A freelance stoat mutters that he is being pulled.
By "Climate Control" the corps has grown to fill a city in crisis: ZNN, local affiliates and independent crews filling the steps of City Hall for the Mayor's address.
Print and Tabloid Outlets

Role in the Series
The media is how the city talks about the pack when the pack is not in the room, and the gap between the two is the point. Coverage decides what Pawbert is at any given moment — the Lynxley boy, the cooperating witness, the mammal who refused, the hero — and none of those versions are his to choose. The broadcast that runs in "Aftermath" is the same footage that made him a monster, recut.
It also supplies the series with its quietest device. A television nobody is watching keeps working: it delivers the news of Lionheart to a fox who has never processed him, the name Vladifrostok to the one mammal in the room it means anything to, and the harbor to a shelter full of mammals who have already seen too much.
