Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the police-procedural sitcom behind the Precinct 99 crossover characters in We Can Fix Pawbert. Created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, it ran for eight seasons — on Fox from 2013 to 2018, then on NBC from 2019 to 2021 — following the detectives of the NYPD's 99th Precinct under a deadpan new captain.

Overview

In We Can Fix Pawbert, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine characters are reimagined as officers of Precinct 99, a ZPD precinct run by Captain Holt. Where Precinct 7 runs on discipline, the Nine-Nine runs on devotion. The annual Halloween Heist is the thread the crossover hangs on: it brings the pack back to the precinct after their first case together, then moves into their safehouse as a security audit, and finally lends its date and its shape to a real operation against Icener's shipping network.

  • "Precinct 99" — The pack's first visit to the Nine-Nine, after Lynxley courier Ferrick surfaces in their territory. Jake opens him up at a diner and Holt talks him into a room with no windows; as the pack leaves, Jake invites them back for the Halloween Heist and aims the invitation squarely at Pawbert
  • "The Heist" — Pawbert takes the trophy on his first attempt. At the car afterward, Jake names what has formed around him: a pack

Season 2: The Fungus Emporium and the Audit (S02E13-14)

  • "Nine-Nine" — A year to the day after the first visit, Holt asks for help on the Fungus Emporium; Pawbert recognizes his father's ledger system, and Jake and Rosa break the proprietor for the name behind the money. Jake then proposes moving the annual heist to the safehouse
  • "The Audit" — Holt reframes the heist as an overt security audit of Site Two, with immediate disclosure of every vulnerability found. Jake locates the real trophy minutes before midnight and hands it back rather than claim an unearned win

Season 5: The Otterdam Job (S05E07-09)

  • "The Network" — Nick calls Jake at the squad's bar and asks for a real heist against Icener's shipping network. Jake agrees on the spot, telling Nick that family does not ask why
  • "The Job" — The squad works a Sovfrost facility in the Otterdam District around a ten-minute shift change. Every team gets out clean, under an alarm the building's own oversensitive climate sensors set off, and Nick gives Jake a homemade trophy of his own
  • "Departure" — The squad leaves after breakfast; Holt tells Pawbert he has gone from needing protection to providing it

  • "Golden Again" — Jake and Amy join the wedding planning by video, arguing with Nick over how many heists the best mammal speech has to reference

  • "Recruit Grumpiski" — Precinct 99 sends exactly one representative to the ZPD Academy, and Peralta introduces himself to the formation under an assumed name
  • "Nighthowler" — Jake and Rosa intercept a feral Luther on a Rainforest District street with no backup; Rosa takes the impact head-on, then knocks him clear when he pins Jake

  • The Halloween Heist is a recurring episode format in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, an annual competition among the squad for the title of Ultimate Detective/Genius, restyled Ultimate Human/Genius in the later seasons. The WCFP Heist Trophy adapts that title into its engraving, "ULTIMATE HEIST CHAMPION/GENIUS"
  • The Heist Trophy from the Halloween Heists becomes a recurring symbol
  • Jake Peralta's line "But you've got a pack now" names the core group
