Season 1

Precinct 99 is introduced during a crossover with Precinct 1. In "Precinct 99", a Lynxley money courier named Ferrick surfaces in the precinct's territory and refuses to talk to anyone else, which brings the pack through the bullpen doors for the first time. Jake greets them at a run, tells Nick he has read his file three times, and is assigned initial contact. Over pancakes at a breakfast-at-night diner he trades hustling stories with Nick, then slides into Ferrick's booth and cracks him by naming Oxbow, the operative the ferret is afraid of ending up like. When the case closes, Jake blocks the pack at the door to invite them back for the Halloween Heist the following night, aiming the invitation squarely at Pawbert on the grounds that he has the calculating look that wins them.

In "The Heist", Jake proclaims the tradition from a desk, recruits Nick into a "chaos bros" alliance with Charles, and spends the night running a plan built around misdirection, a fake mustache, and at least one crime. The gambit fails on both ends: Terry refuses to believe in the odorless gas, and Gina's case locks Jake out with a recorded taunt while he still has the pick between his teeth. He takes the loss cheerfully, and takes Pawbert's read on a decoy trophy's weight distribution even better, calling him a heist movie protagonist but sad. Pawbert wins the trophy; Jake immediately declares himself the challenger for the following year.

On the precinct steps afterward, Jake stops the pack before they load into the car and tells Pawbert what he has been watching all night: that most joint teams are mammals who happen to share a room, and this one is not that. "You don't see it yet. But you've got a pack now. A real one. That's rare." It is the first time the word is used for Pawbert's found family, and it becomes the defining term of the series. Jake and Nick trade phone numbers before the night ends.

Season 2

Jake spots the pack the moment they walk into Precinct 99 in "Nine-Nine", a year to the day after their first visit, and greets them at volume before running the elaborate pawshake he and Nick developed the previous year: a paw bump, a digit wiggle, and a third move of uncertain origin. He rejects Amy's calculation of the odds on the date in favor of destiny. When the Fungus Emporium turns out to have been laundering money, his delight is complete and unembarrassed. He and Rosa take the interrogation of the proprietor, Morley Sporesworth, with Jake folding himself nearly double to bring his face level with the mole's and reciting the cracked ledger back at him, and between them they get the name of Tempest Holdings.

With the case closed, Jake blocks the pack at the door and proposes moving the annual Halloween heist to their safehouse, then defends the idea against every objection Nick can raise. He listens to the rest of the argument through the gap in Holt's office door and bursts in on it to claim that the stretch he spent guarding Holt's husband in protective custody made the two of them best friends.

At Site Two in "The Audit", Jake takes Nick and Charles into the ventilation system and finds a blind spot in the kitchen camera's coverage. He reports it under the heist's disclosure rule instead of exploiting it, dropping out of a vent to hand Luther the sketch in person. His own play is to recruit Charles for a cheese emergency and lift the trophy off the shelf while the room watches the brie, but the trophy is a painted decoy and Pawbert tells him so without turning around. Working the problem with Nick afterward, he reasons his way to the one mammal who would be carrying it without knowing, and pulls the real trophy out of the bottom of Charles's charcuterie backpack.

With three minutes left on the clock and the trophy in his paws, Jake hands it back rather than run out the time, tells Pawbert the win was fair, and books a rematch for the following year. Before the squad leaves he produces a sticker-covered Pawlaroid camera from his jacket, herds both teams in front of the corkboard for a group photograph nobody is properly posed for, and gives the print to Pawbert for the board.

Season 5: The Call and the Heist

In "The Network", Nick calls Jake at Shaw's Bar to propose a real heist against an Otterdam shipping facility. Jake drops his usual theatrics the moment he reads Nick's tone, agreeing without hesitation: "We're family. You don't ask family why— you just show up."

During the Icener crisis, the third heist takes on real stakes in "The Job": the objective is to steal the MV Frost Crown's arrival data from the Sovfrost shipping facility in the Otterdam District. Jake works alongside Nick as an HVAC tech, gets stuck in a ventilation shaft, and delivers his signature enthusiasm throughout. After the successful extraction, Nick gives Jake a homemade heist trophy. The squad stays overnight at the mansion.

In "Departure", the squad says its goodbyes. Jake delivers a sincere speech acknowledging the pack's trust: "And you trusted us with it. The Nine-Nine. You brought us in when it mattered."

Season 5: The Final Battle

Jake returns at the perimeter during the assault on the Root in "Final Position", stepping out of the lead cruiser with the squad's usual chaos energy entirely absent. He racks the slide on his weapon and says "Welcome to the party, pal." quietly, almost to himself, and it lands as nothing like a joke; Amy takes his paw and squeezes.

Season 5: Golden Again and The Wedding

During the wedding planning montage in "Golden Again", Jake appears on a video call with Nick, arguing passionately about incorporating all three heists into his best mammal speech while Amy sighs behind him.

Jake serves as Nick Wilde's best mammal at the double wedding in "Always". His presence alongside Amy at the ceremony underscores how far the relationships between Precinct 99 and the pack have come since their first meeting.

W-Series

In "Recruit Grumpiski", Jake arrives at the Zootopia Police Academy on Wednesday of Week 2, separate from the Precinct 7 guest instructors. He introduces himself to the assembled cadets as "Detective John McClane," blasts inspirational music from a portable speaker during the PT run, and films Luther's suffering with gleeful commentary — declaring it "the best day of my life."

In "Nighthowler", Jake is on the citywide search for Luther after a modified Nighthowler compound puts the wolf into a feral state. He and Rosa are parked on Ficus Grove in the Rainforest District with the engine off, on a stretch of road Rosa chose because it is the first pavement Luther would hit coming out of the canopy. Luther crosses it at speed. Rosa steps into his path and takes the impact, stays on her paws, and he is past her before she has stopped sliding. Jake plants himself next knowing he has neither her weight nor her angles, goes down on his back, and spends several seconds pinned with the jaws working toward his throat until Rosa drives Luther off him from the flank. Jake gets up on shaking legs and puts the sighting on the radio. At two in the morning he calls Nick from the other side of the city, and Nick can hear before the second sentence that Jake has stopped performing. Rosa's read on the pavement was that Luther was going somewhere rather than attacking, and Jake has spent the night working out where: every encounter has been northbound, and the track on Garcia's screen points at the mansion. It is the piece the search has been missing, and Pawbert asks Nick to pass on his thanks.
