"I won't trade them for a throne made of bodies." โ Pawbert Lynxley, refusing Clawrence's offer on live television
Overview
Season 2 begins with the pack maintaining their bond through weekly visits and letters. When intelligence reveals coordinated assassination attempts against Pawbert, ZSI embeds Luther into Zootopia Correctional Facility under the cover identity "Rook." Escalating attacks force an emergency extraction, costing the life of ally Warden Hartwell and revealing the attacks were reconnaissance, not simple assassination attempts.
The investigation leads to the revelation that Clawrence Lynxley โ Milton's older half-brother, the original architect of the modern weather wall systems, and a lynx officially dead for thirty years โ is alive and planning a catastrophic attack on Zootopia's weather walls. The crisis culminates in Clawrence capturing Pawbert and offering him the chance to become king over Zootopia by activating a master weather wall override. Pawbert refuses, choosing his pack over power in a moment broadcast live to the entire city.
Plot
One year after Pawbert's incarceration, intelligence reveals coordinated assassination attempts funded by remnants of the Lynxley Network. ZSI embeds Luther into ZCF under the cover identity "Rook" to protect Pawbert from inside the prison walls. Escalating attacks culminate in a full assault on the facility in "Extraction", forcing an emergency extraction at dawn with Reacher's team. Warden Hartwell is killed during the breach, his final words revealing that the attacks were reconnaissance rather than simple assassination attempts. In the aftermath, Luther names what the four of them have become: "It's pack."
The investigation stretches across multiple fronts. In "Unconditional", Nick, Judy, and Luther each formally forgive Pawbert in an emotionally charged session. A power substation explosion in "Collateral" kills eight civilians during a 9-1-1 crossover. Milton reveals in "The Uncle" that Clawrence Lynxley โ his older half-brother, a lynx officially dead for thirty years โ is alive. Cattrick provides key intelligence in "Blood Relations", and Milton separately confirms that Soren โ Pawbert's disappeared first love โ is alive but relocated. The Criminal Minds crossover in "The Cartographer" assists the investigation, and "Return Address" delivers a video call with Soren that brings closure rather than reunion. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine crossover returns in "Nine-Nine" and "The Audit" with a Halloween heist repurposed as a security audit.
Clawrence's terrorism campaign erupts in "The Wall", when he attacks the weather wall system and kills forty-one civilians. The assault escalates across "Foxhole" and "Tempest", with Pawbert captured and brought before Clawrence. The voice authentication system Milton built into the weather walls requires a Lynxley voice to activate, and with Milton and his siblings inaccessible in maximum security, Pawbert is the only registered user Clawrence can reach. On live television in "The Crown", Clawrence offers Pawbert the chance to rule Zootopia by force. Pawbert refuses, choosing his pack over a throne built on bodies. He takes a bullet before Luther and Reacher's team complete the rescue.
The aftermath brings unexpected hope. Pawbert celebrates his twenty-sixth birthday in "Found Family", where Gary arrives in person for the first time. Public defender Nikki Bramble files for executive clemency, and in "The Ask", Mayor Winddancer grants a commutation reducing Pawbert's sentence to time served plus one year remaining. The season ends with "Clean Slate", as Pawbert voluntarily returns to ZCF to serve his final year.
