Clawhauser is a cheetah and the front desk officer at ZPD Precinct 1 in We Can Fix Pawbert. First appearing in Zootopia 2, Clawhauser brings warmth, enthusiasm, and occasional chaos to every scene he occupies. He is the precinct's emotional heart—comic relief with genuine depth underneath.

Background

Clawhauser has served as the front desk officer at Precinct 1 for years, serving under Chief Bogo. His role places him at the intersection of every case, every officer, and every visitor who passes through the precinct's doors. He takes this responsibility seriously—in his own way.

Personality

Clawhauser is enthusiastic, warm, and irrepressibly optimistic. He treats every new development as either wonderful news or an opportunity to make wonderful news. His energy can be overwhelming, but it is always genuine. He cares about his colleagues with an openness that most of them find endearing, if occasionally exhausting.

Key personality traits:

  • Enthusiastic — Every event deserves celebration; glitter signs are standard
  • Warm — Genuine emotional investment in the mammals around him
  • Comic relief with heart — Humor comes from authenticity, not foolishness
  • Wedding planner energy — Maintains wedding binders; catches bouquets

Series History

Season 2

During the Clawrence siege arc, Clawhauser is present at Precinct 1 when it comes under direct assault. In S02E17 ("Foxhole"), he is behind the front desk when twelve attackers breach the precinct doors. In S02E18 ("Tempest"), Judy protects Clawhauser behind the duty desk during the continued assault, shielding him while the pack fights to defend the precinct.

Season 3

Clawhauser appears at the Precinct 1 front desk during the cross-training exchange with Precinct 7 officers (S03E02). Following the Lionheart crisis and the pack's involvement at City Hall, Clawhauser brings a stack of complaints filed against Nick and Judy to Chief Bogo's office (S03E08). Bogo shreds them without reading.

Season 4

In S04E01 "Release," Clawhauser notices Nick and Judy's nervous energy at the precinct on the morning of Pawbert's release. He has bought cookies for Pawbert's return.

When Pawbert visits ZPD Precinct 1 in S04E04 "Open Enrollment," Clawhauser envelops him in a hug: "You're out! You're actually out! I mean, I knew you were out, Nick told me, but you're HERE. In the building. Not in a visiting capacity!" He notes Pawbert looks "adjusting to freedom tired" and offers donuts.

When Luther arrives for his first day as ZPD-ZSI Liaison (S04E05), Clawhauser greets him with a glitter sign reading "WELCOME AGENT PAWTHORNE!" He serves as Bogo's enthusiastic companion during the Deersneyland trip (E06)---much to Bogo's mortification.

He accidentally reveals Luther's birthday (E19), leading to a celebration. Luther thanks him, which Clawhauser considers one of the great achievements of his career.

Season 5: The Icener Crisis

The Precinct 1 bombing (E13) hits Clawhauser hard. Chief Bogo spots the bomber's wrong posture, kills him, and physically throws Clawhauser to safety before the van detonates—but the blast still leaves Clawhauser traumatized, covered in someone else's blood, unable to speak. At the hospital, Pawbert sits wordlessly beside him until Clawhauser breaks his silence, describing how Bogo deliberately stepped in front of him. Pawbert counsels him through it, sharing Dr. Fuzzby's teaching: "Fear is information, not instruction."

When Chief Bogo returns to the bullpen after his hospitalization (E22), Clawhauser is the first to start clapping—a loud, genuine, emotional response that breaks the silence and triggers a standing ovation from the entire precinct. He later squeals audibly from three rooms away when Nick announces his promotion to Detective.

At the double wedding (E24), Clawhauser catches the bouquet. He has wedding binders—plural—and has been preparing for this moment longer than anyone realizes.

Key Relationships

Chief Bogo

Clawhauser and Bogo share a dynamic of exasperation and affection. Bogo tolerates Clawhauser's enthusiasm with visible annoyance and invisible fondness. The Deersneyland trip is their defining moment—and it never happened.

Pawbert Pawthorne

Clawhauser's relationship with Pawbert deepens during the Icener crisis, when Pawbert counsels him through his fear after the bombing. Their interaction shows Pawbert's growth as a social worker and Clawhauser's capacity for genuine vulnerability beneath the cheerful exterior.

Luther Pawthorne

Clawhauser greets Luther's arrival at Precinct 1 with maximum enthusiasm. Luther's tolerance of this energy is, for Luther, a display of deep affection.

Trivia

  • He maintains multiple wedding binders.
